Our good friend, Jonathan Davis put a thought into my head today. His most recent post listed a few books he's added to his young family library. It prompted my to think about our family library. It seems to me that one's library is somewhat defining. Reading shapes a person in a way that other media do not. I've seen very few television shows or movies that I would consider to be great influences on my life. Books are where it's at, my friends. Adventure, inspiration, wisdom, comedy, tragedy, teaching- it can all be found in our young, growing library.
The Davis family library seems to reflect a family that is in passionate pursuit of knowing Christ, their Savior. Ours probably says that we're a little schizophrenic. What does your library (or lack thereof) say about you?
"The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them." ~Mark Twain
"It is what you read when you don't have to that determines what you will be when you can't help it." ~Oscar Wilde
"How many a man has dated a new era in his life from the reading of a book." ~Henry David Thoreau
"Good as it is to inherit a library, it is better to collect one." ~Augustine Birrell
"A house without books is like a room without windows."~Heinrich Mann

We do have an odd smattering of stuffs, don't we?
Besides photography books, law books, and the Harry Potter series our collection is pretty non-existence. I am a a firm believer in the library system and in fact I have 4 current library cards in my wallet right now. I love to read but I rarely buy books...
